A Conversation with Major Champion Steve Elkington
Australian Steve Elkington won 10 times on the PGA Tour, including a Major Championship victory in the 1995 PGA Championship at Riviera County Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Arnold Palmer's Legacy
To say that the late Arnold Palmer was a multiple Major Championship winner on the PGA Tour is to understate his impact on the game of golf. His legacy goes well beyond the fairways and greens. In addition to a clothing line, and endorsing products such as Cadillac, Pennzoil, and the “Arnold Palmer:” (a half lemonade/half iced tea drink), Palmer founded The Golf Channel; had an ownership stake in Pebble Beach Golf Links, and was a member at Augusta National.
OHL Classic at Mayakoba
Somewhere on the schedule – in between China, Mississippi, and Sea Island, Georgia, to be exact, the PGA Tour, in its’ new, revamped schedule, will go south of the border – though the world of golf really has no borders these days – for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba – Mexico’s only official PGA Tour event.
"Tea to Sea" Golf in Canada
My fellow players and I walked into the small cottage that served as a halfway house in the middle of our round…to order a round. It was brisker than normal, but not unpleasantly so, for a July day in eastern Canada. Montgomerie Mounts a Major Charge as a Senior
Champions Tour player Colin Montgomerie was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame without ever winning a Major Championship. The Scotsman had multiple runner-up finishes in the British Open, U.S. Open and PGA Championships, and he never could break through and win in the United States – except in the Ryder Cup matches, where he enjoyed an undefeated singles record. To be fair most of his play was on the European Tour, where he won 31 times and topped the European Order of Merit for nearly a decade. American fans loved to get his goat by heckling him – and were only encouraged when the American media labeled the pasty, pudgy, grumpy Montgomerie: “Mrs. Doubtfire.”
